Photographic series

In 2008, Florence Lazar created a photographic series that featured French left-wing political ephemera from the postwar era, a project that marked her return to documentary photography. Beginning with Jeune militant, Bulletin d’information des jeunes socialites, each piece of ephemera tracks the intellectual and political activism of the artist’s father, from his precocious political awakening to his subsequent activities as a member of the non-communist left. The series culminated, in 2012, in a further work specially commissioned for the Libelle series of artist’s edition: the presentation of an almost complete set of the influential militant journal Socialisme ou barbarie. The photographic series also inspired a video work, Confessions d’un jeune militant (2008)
